ECO OIL is teaming up with Vinhomes to survey and create a strategy for gathering used cooking oil. This initiative aims to protect the environment and boost community awareness about the importance of recycling.

ECO OIL conducted a series of surveying activities from May 16 to May 18, 2024, at Vinhomes Ocean Park 1, 2, 3, and Vinschool to promote environmental protection and enhance community awareness about recycling used cooking oil. These activities included introductions, surveys, and planning for the collection of used cooking oil.

Our goals

ECO OIL is conducting surveys to gather data on the amount of used cooking oil and to develop a clean, safe, and effective collection plan. We are surveying all pilot locations in Vinhomes Ocean Park 1, 2, 3, and Vinschool to identify the number of shophouses in these urban areas. The plan also involves collecting information about the number of households in these areas to support the project with Vinhomes, aiming to boost the green living movement and used cooking oil collection in 2024.

The survey also aims to find the best spots for Vinhomes’ green events and to determine the ideal places to set up equipments, machines for these events. Moreover, by surveying the canteens in Vinschool, it helps the school enhance and promote education on used cooking oil collection for students from elementary to high school, encouraging a green and civilized way of living.

Through this survey, ECO OIL hopes to gather precise datas on the restaurants running in Vinhomes and understand the residents’ needs concerning used cooking oil collection.

Specific activities

During the survey from May 16 to May 18, 2024, the ECO OIL team carried out the following activities:

  • Meeting with management department at Vinhomes Ocean Park 1, 2, 3, and Vinschool to learn about their needs and expectations for collecting used cooking oil.
  • Finding ideal spots for collecting used cooking oil in apartment complexes and schools.
  • Collecting information on the amount of used cooking oil produced by households, restaurants, and canteens.

The piloting activities’s result

After finishing the survey, ECO OIL gathered accurate datas on the number of shophouses operating in the three Vinhomes urban areas. We also engaged with shophouses and residents to get feedback on the ECO OIL and Vinhomes collaboration for a large-scale used cooking oil collection plan across all Vinhomes areas.

At Vinschool, ECO OIL deployed a pilot team at primary, middle, and high school locations. We also developed plans tailored to each age group. For primary students, ECO OIL plans to organize educational events to teach students how to collect used cooking oil and the benefits of recycling, from that, promoting a green and clean lifestyle.

For middle and high school students, ECO OIL plans to install automatic collection systems in canteens with a point-based reward system to encourage them to participate in recycling activities.
